"those were the good ole days"

"THOSE WERE THE GOOD OLE DAYS"..but isnt that subjective? Each generation, as we get older, feel the affects of our bodies slowing down in a world that is speeding up and we sometimes wish to get off the train and relax! We daydream back to the day of child like innocence and carefree days! Whatever era that was for you, it is special to YOU! That isn't a bad thing. Reflection is healthy, in my opinion. It's unhealthy when it becomes a stumbling block to living in the now, being the most you can be. When one's past is their only world then the future can't be held. I grew up in the 70s and graduated high school in the 80s. THOSE WERE THE GOOD OLD DAYS for simplicity and irresponsibility. Now that I am an adult since the 90s, I view the world differently. I have chores, I have a job, I have a family who cares, I have money worries and health issues..but ya know what I also am more relaxed about things and find myself saying "it is what it is" and "oh well" a lot. Is that a sign of maturity or is that a sign that I'm tired of fighting the battles in life? Life is good, carpe diem as they say! Each day that God gives me is a gift, I'll take whatever is in front of me and be thankful! If I could pick an era though, I would like the "prairie days". I just love looking at primitive items. I love reading stories about LITTLE HOUSE IN THE PRAIRIE and watching shows that show me RANCH LIFE, like http://www.thepioneerwoman.com/. Here are some pics of primitive that I enjoy! Take care, stay blessed and luv, hugs and peace!!

Colorado bound

Day 1: great travel weather. Sunny. 98° outside and comfy air conditioning inside. We rented a 2013 Toyota Camry and it's got quite a nice ride. One that we "old farts" rode in for 6 hours and never once felt tired! It's the white car in the pics here. We made it to Colby KS and decided to stop and stay at a nostalgic motel. The old pull to the door motel. Budget Inn and Suites. Comfy, not fancy. We just wanted a cool room, temperature wise, a king bed and a relaxing shower. We noticed that overall the land wasn't as dry as previous trips out. A bit more green was nice. And they have installed more of those energy wind farms. See the one in the pics? Someone added an American flag. I like a sense of patriotism. The traffic wasn't bad leaving at 1250pm and getting to Colby KS by 630pm. You can see in the pics that the day was clear and the roads were good. We cracked up at that world's biggest prairie dog sign we kept seeing along I70. It was actually a huge statue! ! I remember us we had stopped off curiosity once and were disgusted with ourselves for being that gullible! LOL we also have a travelling tradition of playing the license plate game. Day 1 and we found 15 states, not bad..one being Massachusetts, which we usually found hard to find. We play the critter count game too! Today:cattle, horses and bison. Ya gotta do something during the long trek across the flat of Kansas. The last tradition we have travelling is not to patronize chains. Local Ma and Pa's the whole time ..except for gas purchases. Tonight we had dinner from City Limits. Good food but overpriced. I had tomato Basil soup and salad with a bowl of fetuccicine. Clark had the soup and salad bar. He liked it. He discovered how tasty blending green olives in to potato salad was. I bet he makes some back home. Time to chill in our little overnight studio living and rest up for tomorrow 's travels. Hugs, luvs and peace!

Walt Disney Castle-Germany

Is this not cool, how many of you knew where the vision came from for the Walt Disney Castle? My friend Liz lived in Germany for awhile since her husband was Army. They toured some beautiful old buildings. Compare this to the animated version. How beautiful! And for you architecture buffs, look at these old buildings! Third pic down is Linderof. It's amazing! Fourth pic down is the hall of mirrors in Germany as well, wow! I dont know about you but I think castles and old architecture is fun to look at; I can only imagine touring them in person.
For more exciting pics, go to this link and enjoy!

go west young man!

Can't wait til our trip to Colorado! We leave Friday afternoon and travel through the flat lands of Kansas. Needs to be more exciting through Kansas though. I usually play the license plate game and critter count. Alive critters that is, no road kill does not count! LOL we usually stay the night in small town usa Kansas somewhere. After a good night's sleep and breakfast and shower we hit the road for our destination! Another tradition we have is to buy new CDs for our listening pleasure. Got my Matthew west, Amy grant,
and Chris Tomlin. I'm set! We also DO NOT patronize food chains while we are on vaca. We only hit the "ma and pa's" as they have so affectionally been called over the years! Some of the best food is found in the ugliest panelled with green and gold decor kinda places, money spent on good food and not so much on decor. Kinda nostalgic to me anyway! We also like learning all we can about an area we are going to so as to feel more like a local. Gonna be fun, pics to come! Hugs, luv and peace!

dont worry..be happy!

Ever have days where you worry? Be strange if you said no. Sometimes a little worry gives us the adrenaline we need to keep going. But is it worry of not being in control of the future or fear of what we don't know? That's something I'm sure we could each answer differently. One thing we all DO have in common is that the future will come whether we are ready or not. why don't we learn to trust God as He said in Jeremiah 29:11 that He would be there for us and wants good things for us. He didn't say every day would be good He just said He would be there everyday. Sometimes not having it our way is better for us. He knows the big picture. With that in mind, why not just go along for the ride and don't worry, be happy? I wish you much peace as you seek to find your daily calm. Ask God to show you how. He's waiting. Hugs, luv and peace!

U*S*A -Happy 4th of July and 13th year anniversary to me and my honey !

Independence day, what does that mean to you? Parades, ice cream, a ballgame or thankful for the military, remembering how lucky you are to live in a free country? Maybe you just enjoy a day of no work? For Clark and I it's all about being thankful for each other, our freedoms and all the things that God has done in our lives and for our marriage. It's about wanting to give since we are having all our needs met. The last two years we have worked at our church's North Heartland Community Church fireworks stand. The funds will go to folks who have come upon hard times. It feels good to volunteer! Clark started a tradition this year that I love and wanna do for each other every year! He gave me a bookmark that commemorates his purchase of a bible in my name for a soldier! How caring is he?! whatever the day means to you don't waste it upset, angry or blue..go do something that makes you smile..not on the outside but in the heart! God reminds us that whatever we do for the "least of these" you have done for Him also! God bless the USA and God bless you!
